Heat Treatment:
- Forging: Heat slowly to 1000-1050C, thoroughly soak, and avoid forging below 850C. Cool slowly after forging.
- Annealing: Usually supplied in the annealed condition. Re-anneal if forged or hardened.
- Stress Relieving: Beneficial before hardening. Heat to 700C and cool in air.
- Hardening: Heat to 800-820C, soak, and quench in oil.
