Product Description

• Material Description:

  • P20 (1.2738) is a plastic mold steel, equivalent to AISI P20+Ni Tool Steel.
  • It is specially designed for the plastic mold industry, particularly for large steel mold parts.
  • Supplied in the pre-hardened/quenched and tempered condition with a hardness of approximately 280320 HB.

• Composition:

  • Carbon : 0.350.45%.
  • Manganese (Mn): 1.301.60%.
  • Phosphorus (P): 0.03% max.
  • Sulfur (S): 0.03% max.
  • Silicon (Si): 0.200.40%.
  • Chromium (Cr): 1.802.10%.
  • Molybdenum (Mo): 0.150.25%.
  • Nickel (Ni): 0.901.20%.

• Mechanical Properties (Room Temperature):

  • Yield Strength: 1080 N/mm.
  • Thermal Conductivity at 100C: 33.5 W/mK.

• Heat Treatment:

  • Soft annealing: 710740C for 25 hours, followed by slow cooling.
  • Hardening: From 840870C, quenching in oil.
  • Tempering: Twice recommended.

• Applications:

  • Die casting dies and injection molds.
  • Synthetic plastic molds, especially large ones.
  • Suitable for nitriding and chrome plating.
