Properties:
- Hardness: D2 provides excellent abrasion resistance and hardness in the range of 55-62 HRC.
- Wear Resistance: It exhibits high wear and abrasion resistance properties.
- Applications: D2 is commonly used for dies, stamps, punches, gauges, slitters, knives, rolls, and blades.
Heat Treatment:
- Hardening: Heat to 1850-1950F (1010-1066C) and quench in oil or air.
- Tempering: For maximum hardness, temper between 300-600F (149-316C).
Machinability: D2 is machinable in the annealed condition.
